Tis the season for sad boys and amazing mixtapes. YOUWIN’s debut mixtape is a breath of fresh air among the noisy background of type beats and soundcloud rappers.
‘Sad Boy Season’ is the newest release from artist YOUWIN. Following a string of releases this year, including a slew of singles and his debut EP ‘SadBoyHours’, YOUWIN’s newest drop appeals to fans both old and new. It’s a genre bending soiree with something for everyone.
After checking out the new tape we were interested in how YOUWIN got started in music. “I started seriously recording and working about a year ago, but I’ve been freestyle rapping since I was 13. I have always been good with words and a pretty quick thinker. I started freestyling in middle school, people kept telling me I should take it seriously and eventually I did.”
Peering further behind the curtain on YOUWIN’s new mixtape, it is clear to see the talent he possesses and the amount of care and detail that he puts into his work. I was taken aback by the thought put into the craft, from the structure of the track itself to the hooks, wordplay, references and timing. Clearly a lot of effort has been put into this mixtape and it shows with tear jerking performances, catchy choruses, and hard hitting beats.
With the internet giving easy access to recording equipment and software, along with platforms to be able to release material it is getting harder and harder for artists to be able to differentiate themselves from others within their genre. We asked YOUWIN for his thoughts on the matter, “I want to create art that is truly great, and stands the test of time. My work ethic and motivation, I work hard, and I don’t sleep. I’m versatile, and I put out quality and quantity simultaneously.”
‘Sad Boy Season’ is certainly a cut above the rest. In a sea of self releasing artists it is oftentimes hard to find the real talent, not with YOUWIN however. YOUWIN’s versatility, writing, performance, ability to move within different genres, and his standout brand makes for a big difference when compared to his peers. YOUWIN is definitely making waves and his new mixtape ‘Sad Boy Season’ is a great addition to his already expanding catalog. One to watch very closely as we see what his newest release can do and wait with tears of hope in our eyes for the next one.
