New Orleans rapper, filmmaker, fashion designer, and financial freedom fighter Zul-Qarnain just released his new track Black Romance!
Black Romance blends soulful instrumentals, melodic beats, and strong lyrics speaking on the power and grace of Black people.
The song is dedicated to not only celebrating Black history but also empowering Black people. The song pays homage to many Black advocates such as Tamika Mallory and speaks to their strength and ability to overcome racial-based barriers and obstacles in their path.
The song also calls for much-needed justice for the multiple innocent, unarmed Black people in America who have been tragically murdered. He specifically mentions Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arberry both of whom were fatally shot in 2020. In the midst of the recent killing of Duante Wright and the ongoing trial of the officer that murdered George Floyd, the message and meaning behind Black Romance are all too relevant.
Through his music and other creations, Zul-Qarnain has always been an advocate of Black empowerment through teaching self-love, self-progress, as well as building his communities to provide opportunities to others. He also feels passionate about encouraging Black communities to learn about and strive for freedom — especially financial freedom.
Black Romance is the first song to come off of his upcoming album titled ‘The Khutbah’, set to be released in mid-2021. This song is also his first release under his new performer name Zul-Qarnain (he had previously gone by K Gates).
If this song is any measure of success, this New Orleans rapper is set to have an exciting year.
