It’s not uncommon for artists to use music as a means to express themselves and find their true voice. Every artist walks their own path and has a unique story to tell based on their own life experiences. Music serves as not only a means to help others, but the artists themselves. For Nashville artist, Kfhox, she has been turning to writing and recording to deal with the ongoing dementia of her father in the wake of losing her mother in 2018.

“After my mom passed, someone said to me that losing a parent is like joining a club you never signed up for. That’s really the best way to put it. Now dealing with my father’s dementia has put me in a whole new club and I’m still learning to navigate this incredibly challenging territory and trying to find the balance in it all,” Kfhox shared. Kfhox managed to write and record her upcoming fourth studio album, “I Am An Anomaly,” all while being the primary caretaker for her father, relocating him from Rhode Island to Tennessee so they could be closer. “My dad was almost completely quarantined for an entire year during the pandemic. Adding isolation and lack of daily movement into the mix of his dementia was a nightmare. I knew it was time to move him closer so I could better manage his care and give him a chance at having a better quality of life,” she continued.
